So I know I said I'd be doing this and I'd be doing that, but life has really gotten in the way the last few months and I apologize for that. Since classes are ending in a few weeks the updates will stop being sparse and we'll start talking a lot more about the new direction the game will be taking and the upcoming changes that are going into place.
Again we're extremely sorry about all the lack of communication, it's very hard when there's two people left and no budget to work with.
This news blog is getting a facelift in the next couple of days. The page will be reset to the original URL instead of a redirect and the blog history itself will be gone. We're wiping clean and starting fresh. Development is still in progress and some new game reveals will be happening in the next couple of weeks depending on schedules, etc. We'd like to take this time to again thank our testing base for sticking with us through this difficult transition and we promise we will deliver on your loyalty some day soon.
To be brief, some changes are being made to the way the game is being developed. We're looking for input on our ideas to avoid alienating our playerbase as a result of these necessary redevelopments. All suggestions and ideas will be taken to heart heavily.
What This Means
We're looking for about a sample size of 15-20 people to help us make some changes to Grecca's design. If you're interested in shaping the future of Grecca, sign up for the forums and reply to the post under General Discussion about Upcoming Changes. From there, you will be invited to a closed forum where the design and landmarks will be discussed in great detail. This information is not to be disclosed publicly until a final draft is agreed upon. We look forward to hearing what you have to say.
Sorry for the extended silence. We have hired a new coder and we are in the process of getting the game back online. Right now it is very hacked together and we're seeing that it may take a few additional coders to get us where we want to realistically be right now. That being said, we're going to be making some changes to the order things will be implemented. Announcements further describing these changes will come later this week, when we will also be announcing a sort of cash shop deal. Not all of the details have been hashed out yet on either of these.
We are working on getting together an indiegogo page this week, the link to that will be available as soon as it's ready to go.
Again, we thank you for your patience, and for more (unreleased) details regarding the future announcements, please check the forums and the facebook page. We're taking all suggestions and input to heart at this point.
The one unfortunate part about losing all of our code was that it is now necessary to pay someone new to rebuild the game for us. Because of this, we are in need of extra funding as we are paying on a per-landmark basis.
In effect, this means the more coders we hire, the faster we can bring the game to you. As it stands, we have netcode and a partially functional build with none of the systems implemented and none of the content uploaded.
Any financial support you provide will be rewarded as much as we possibly can within the limitations of what we consider reasonable based on the game's systems (ie we're not going to give you an ubersword of ultra destruction with 1000x attack speed or a pet dragon or a machine gun--e.g. something outside of the game's meta--or some crazy such thing as that, but we can do a custom hair, tattoo, etc.)
We'll soon be opening an indiegogo or a kickstarter, but if you'd like to donate ahead of time and get rewarded prior to that happening just email us and let us know how much you donated (we'll cross check this, just fyi) and we'll get your special request!
Just so you know, it's to your benefit to donate early because once indiegogo/kickstarter donations go up, the reward will be based on how much you donate.
Thanks again for your continuing support and patience! We miss you all!
...and email your request to admin@grecca.net!
